Sea Trial Notes of “AIDA · Huacheng”: Withstanding the Most Intense Tests to Deliver the Most Reassuring Voyage
From May 21 to 23, China’s second domestically built large cruise ship, AIDA · Huacheng, carried out a series of intensive sea trials, completing multiple key tests at sea. Among them, the most visually striking and experiential tests included anchoring trials, fin stabilizer trials, and maneuverability tests.

During the anchoring trials, the ship underwent repeated anchor deployment and retrieval operations under various conditions to verify the reliability and safety of its anchoring system. The fin stabilizer tests focused on evaluating the vessel’s roll reduction performance in different sea states, ensuring passenger comfort during navigation. Meanwhile, maneuverability tests examined the ship’s responsiveness and handling under complex operating conditions, further validating its navigational performance.
Sea trials are widely regarded as one of the most critical stages in shipbuilding. They serve as a comprehensive examination of a vessel’s design, construction quality, and system integration. For large cruise ships in particular, the testing process is more demanding due to their complex systems and stringent safety requirements.

Through these rigorous tests, AIDA · Huacheng has demonstrated strong overall performance across key technical indicators, laying a solid foundation for its subsequent delivery and commercial operation. The successful completion of these trials marks another important milestone in China’s independent capability to design and build large cruise ships.
