Recently, CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding achieved a series of important milestones across several key shipbuilding projects. Within just five days, the company completed seven major production nodes, including vessel delivery, construction commencement, undocking, and keel-laying. These achievements demonstrate the company’s efficient contract performance, lean management, and accelerating production capacity.

On March 23, Beihai Shipbuilding, together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., successfully delivered the 319,000 DWT ammonia-ready very large crude carrier (VLCC) MENAPII to EURONAV, a subsidiary of Belgium’s CMB.TECH. Independently designed by Beihai Shipbuilding, MENAPII is the third of five ammonia-ready VLCCs being built for EURONAV. The vessel adopts an ammonia-ready design and is regarded as a green and environmentally friendly large crude oil transportation vessel that meets stringent low-carbon requirements in global shipping.

The vessel’s construction quality was highly recognized by the shipowner and classification society. Its dock cycle, underwater commissioning, and sea trial period were continuously optimized, enabling delivery nine months ahead of the contractual schedule. The delivery marks Beihai Shipbuilding’s establishment of standardized, batch-based, and efficient VLCC delivery capabilities, further strengthening its cooperation with leading European shipowners and enhancing its influence in the international market.

On March 20 and March 24, Beihai Shipbuilding held construction commencement ceremonies for two vessels: the 83rd vessel in a 210,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel bulk carrier project being built for MOL, and the 89th 210,000 DWT bulk carrier being built for CITIC Financial Leasing and COSCO Shipping Bulk. The first vessel for CITIC Financial Leasing and COSCO Shipping Bulk adopts both ammonia-fuel-ready and methanol-fuel-ready designs, providing flexibility for future fuel upgrades. It also features an energy-efficient hull form and advanced power system, combining operational economy with green performance.

On March 21, two 210,000 DWT dual-fuel bulk carriers achieved undocking on the same day. The first LNG dual-fuel bulk carrier built for Singapore-based EPS, numbered BC210K-57#, was successfully undocked. Before undocking, the project team efficiently completed key procedures such as main engine oil flushing in the engine room, steering gear oil filling, early installation of accommodation furniture, and lighting power-on, laying a strong foundation for shortening the subsequent quayside construction period.

On the same day, the 210,000 DWT ammonia-fuel bulk carrier BC210K-64#, built for Belgium’s CMB.TECH, also successfully completed undocking. Despite the dock period spanning the Spring Festival holiday, the vessel met the project’s special construction requirements and completed a series of key inspections, including steering gear oil filling and operation, main switchboard power-on, and operation of engine-room lighting and ventilation systems.

On March 23, Beihai Shipbuilding also completed keel-laying for two 210,000 DWT dual-fuel bulk carriers: BC210K-60# for Singapore-based EPS and BC210K-79# for CMB.TECH. This marked the formal entry of both vessels into a new stage of efficient dock construction. Drawing on experience from sister vessels, the project team strengthened outfitting integrity control and worked to shorten the quayside construction cycle, ensuring high-quality sea trials and delivery on schedule.

The achievement of seven major milestones in five days highlights Beihai Shipbuilding’s strong coordination, technical capability, and refined management in the fields of large dual-fuel bulk carriers and VLCCs. It also reflects the company’s continued efforts to deepen its presence in the high-end shipbuilding market and deliver projects with high quality and efficiency.
