London Metropolitan University – a diverse and vibrant place of learning located at the heart of one of the most exciting cities in the world. The University is spread over three campuses with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of Life Sciences and Computing based at Holloway Road, the Faculty of Business and Law at Moorgate, and the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design close by at Aldgate.

Our students have access to excellent facilities, from the recently refurbished Learning Centre on Holloway Road to the Super lab – a cutting edge science facility with over 280 workstations. New studio spaces were recently installed at The Cass, designed by the Faculty’s own Architecture Research Unit, to create a stimulating working environment for students. Our Business School is home to the innovative IBM and Bloomberg technology suites. 

The University also invests in entrepreneurship and innovation. Accelerator, London Met’s business incubator, provides space and support for graduate businesses, and has helped over 30 ‘start-ups’ get up and running in the last two years.  Located in Shoreditch, London’s hotbed of digital enterprise, Accelerator is the only University business incubator in what has become known as ‘Tech City.’     

We are very proud of the work conducted by our researchers and the impact that London Met research has on society. In the latest Research Assessment Exercise, more than two-thirds of the University’s research output was judged to be world leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognized.

London Metropolitan University has a rich history with strong educational roots dating back to 1848.The University as it is today was created in 2002 with the merging of London Guildhall University and the University of North London, the first merger between two universities in the UK. Its roots however, lie firmly in the nineteenth century with the establishment of the Metropolitan Evening Classes for Young Men, in 1848.
